Getting back into shape after pregnancy

Why is it so important that after pregnancy you first of all take care of yourself? Plus also doing it correctly so you help yourself without causing harm? As a priority, you should act consciously, systematically and with the support of specialists. They can support you with knowing what the most common problems are for women after delivery, what you should pay special attention too and by learning more about your muscles.

The most common women’s problems

As Łucja’s mother, I know perfectly well how pregnancy affects a woman’s body. As a specialist, I often receive emails from young mothers with questions such as:

  • How do I deal with the problem of stress urinary incontinence, e.g. when lifting my baby?
  • How do I safely get back to sexual activity?
  • What should I do if I feel pain during intercourse, if sexual sensations are no longer the same as before and I no longer have orgasms?
  • How do I train so I can  deal with the stretching of my abdominal muscles?
  • How should I train to aid my recovery of a scar after Caesarean section or following an episiotomy?

Do you have similar problems? Continue reading to see how you can help yourself.

Where should you start?

Relax! Give yourself time – you don’t have to do everything quickly. We do not advise it and being in a hurry will not help. First of all, you should act according to the plan:

  1. Awareness– constantly look at and listen to your body, see what you need and what problems you are struggling with. Be mindful of any signs of change in the body. Of course, this is not about being overcautious, but about knowing exactly what is happening and in what situations, so that you can provide accurate information to the appropriate specialist.
  2. Consistency – You should remember that patience, regularity and determination is vital when you start exercising. Pregnancy is an amazing effort for your body so do not push it to return to pre-pregnancy condition too quickly. Above all be mindful of what is good for you and what is not.
  3. Specialists – and this is a very important point – do not act alone! Do not diagnose yourself especially not with the help of information available on the Internet – it can only harm you! Remember that literally anyone can write back to you on the Internet and you cannot be sure that the advice was written by a specialist. Therefore, be particularly attentive to this point.
